How this list was built
The shortlist comes from a 2026 Halloween trend roundup that grouped costumes into overall, kids, pets, couples and horror films. We did not treat every entry as an AI opportunity. A costume that only works as a static joke may not survive motion.
We ranked each idea on three things: whether it has a strong silhouette, whether it suggests a scene, and whether it can be described without copying a protected character. That is why an original haunted unicorn mascot ranks highly while an exact film replica does not.
- Silhouette: can you recognise the look in one frame?
- Scene: does the costume imply a place and lighting?
- Originality: can you describe it without a protected name?
Ten trends and the AI angle for each
Use the table as a starting point, not a guarantee of demand. Search interest changes quickly and differs by country. If you are choosing a costume for a real event, check local availability before you commit.
The AI angle is the part you can actually generate: a scene, a motion and a mood.
- Haunted unicorn mascot: plush fur, spiral horn, foggy room, playful horror
- Violet braids: long braids, silver jewellery, moonlit garden
- Celestial princess: glowing star gown, observatory, slow turn
- Wearable robot: metal panels, blue LEDs, neon studio
- Victorian occult: high collar, lace, candlelit library
- Skeleton glam: black base, silver makeup, smoky spotlight
- Disco vampire: mirror ball, satin suit, fast footwork
- Pumpkin scarecrow: straw textures, cornfield, dusk
- Ghost bride: veil, abandoned ballroom, drifting motion
- Gothic doll: porcelain makeup, ribbon details, toy-box set
Turning a trend into a prompt
Take the visual signature, not the brand name. For the haunted unicorn trend, the signature is plush white fur, a spiral horn and an uneasy cute expression. For the braids trend, it is length, colour and silver accessories.
Then add a scene and a camera move. A trend without a scene produces a floating costume; a trend with a scene produces a video.
- Signature: two or three visual details
- Scene: one room or landscape
- Light: one palette and one source
- Motion: one camera move and one body action
- Negative: no text, no logos, no extra people
How to stay on the right side of copyright
A costume trend often starts with a film, game or performer. You can be inspired by a silhouette, a colour or a mood. You should not ask a model to reproduce a protected character design or a real person's face.
Our style pages use original names and original descriptions. If you publish a video, avoid using a franchise name in the caption in a way that implies an official collaboration.
- Use generic descriptions instead of character names
- Avoid logos, exact props and signature makeup
- Do not imply endorsement by a studio or performer
- Keep your source photo and prompt record
The 2026 calendar matters
Halloween 2026 falls on Saturday, October 31. Searches usually climb through early October and peak in the final week. Black Friday follows on November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30.
If you are publishing seasonal content, build the page before the peak and refresh it with new looks during the final week. A page published after Halloween is a page you will rewrite next year.
- Early October: publish the hub and core looks
- Mid October: add trend pages and prompt lists
- Final week: refresh the homepage links and social posts
- November: switch the same URLs to Black Friday and holiday angles
